Projected Backdrop at the National Gallery

Projected backdrop

The sumptuous exhibition Versailles: Treasures from the Palace open at the National Gallery of Australia from December 9th includes a projected backdrop to the magnificent statue of Latona and her children that was the centrepiece of one of the main fountains in the formal gardens at the Palace of Versailles. The backdrop is projected onto a 180°, four metre high by twelve metre wide curved screen.

Mental Media won the contract to design the technical systems and projection geometry, supply and install the hardware, and program the content for this spectacular addition to the exhibition.

The installation comprises three Epson projectors fitted with ultra short throw lenses and a Dataton Watchpax system for content delivery.
